Pression

Hello all! Today I have for you an original composition that I have written fresh just for you!

So I was just thinking to myself one day about how there are words like impression, depression, and repression. They all are a form of pression but what is pression? I did what any sensible person would do; I Googled it. What it came up with is a French translation. It equated pression with pressure in English.  With my new found knowledge, I was inspired. I just so happened that at this time I was writing a piece for piano so I got the idea to name it pression, but don’t think that I just named the piece that because It sounded cool! This new found name gave my writing direction because at this point I had only written two well established themes and I had planed for this piece to stretch much longer than the minute or so that I had already had.

So there are a few ways pression is linked to this piece. The first is that music is made up of sounds and sounds are waves in the form of air pressure, thus pression. The next is that some of the parts sound very much inspired by Impressionism which is an era of music that falls between the Romantic era and the 20th century. Impressionism has pression in it. [Im(pression)ism] Another reason is that pressure is a force of change. Each section of the piece you will find an iteration of the two main themes and you will find that either the section will be changed by the statement of the theme or the theme itself will be changed for the section.

Anyway I think I have said everything that I was looking to say about the piece. Go have a listen! Also if you have any questions about the piece leave a comment bellow and I’ll do my best to answer it!
